Be careful buying this Version

I purchased this version of the Avesta to read and was VERY disappointed. I am not giving the Avesta two stars, just this version of it. This volume is a reprint of the 1864 original that has not been restored... the font is awkward and very small, there are even smudges on some of the words! This version was highly recommended to me, but I fail to see why. The translations are archaic, and in some places incomplete! I think I got the most very basic gist of the book, but I am sure there would have been so much more I could have gotten out of Zoroaster's wirtings if I just had a better version of the Avesta that was easier to read and translated into modern english with words that weren't still in avestan and squiggly wirting that I can't read. :'(

Excellent translation of one of the most holiest books on this earth

The English is very archaic but I think it is beautiful, and fitting for such an archaic text.
The font is small and OCR'd but it was easy for me to get used to. Some parts are incomprehensible at first, but these parts are difficult to understand in other translations too, and if you mull over them enough you can make sense out of them.
This is definitely better than L.H. Mills's translation, and as far as the Gathas go it is better than average because of what appears to be a very literal interpretation, though I can't verify this becuase I don't know Avestan.
