The key issues revolve around competition and conflict over finite natural resources. The authors highlight opportunities to improve both the understanding of nexus challenges and their governance. They critically discuss a global governance approach versus polycentric and multilevel approaches and the lack of those dimensions in many theories of international relations.

It features examples of their creative work on the ground and examines the impact it has had on the community and the local media. Piotrowska uses her experiences to analyse concepts of trauma and post-colonialism in Zimbabwe and interrogates her position as a stranger there, questioning patriarchal notions of belonging and authority. Black and White also presents a different perspective on convergences in the work of Doris Lessing and iconic Zimbabwean writer Dambudzo Marechera, and how it might be relevant to contemporary race relations.

Dr Agnieszka Piotrowska is an acclaimed theorist and an award winning documentary filmmaker, who uses psychoanalysis and philosophy alongside her creative practice research. I recently saw a DVD showing explicitly, obviously, clearly, and absolutely that the shooting of Pres. Kennedy came from the front. It was completely obvious, and terrible to see: his face exploded and his head was thrown back. But maybe that is old news. I have seriouly looked into the 9/11 attack, as well as the Oklahoma City bombing, and it is obvious that what we have been told is hogwash. You can see in the shot of the underside of one of the jets that it was military. It is absolute fact that there were multiple explosions in the WTC that were edited out of what appeared on the news. T is true that the elevators were blown up, destroyed, before the planes hit. It is seen on camara shots that there were explosions going on in the building below where the jets hit. And there were no plane parts--I say again, no plane parts at the Pentagon or at the "crash site" in the field. Yet we were told that every body was identified... I know that my words mean nothing to those who don't know, who do not want to know. To see the truth is sickening. But I would rather be sick and know the truth than to walk around with a vacuous grin and a yes-nod for everything the Government and News media told me. I once scoffed at people who believed in "conspiracy theories"; they were lunatics and too easily influenced. But after looking to find facts, investigating to know for myself, I learned that in some cases am not believing a conspiracy theory, I am confronted with a conspiracy that is fact. Like the Oklahoma City bombing: bombing experts could clealy tell that the explosion came from the inside. And to be told by the government that they were able to learn things from an axel from the suspect truck that they happened to find a way off and which uniqulely out of all the vehicles in America had the vehicle number on it, is asking people to check their minds at the door and sit with the mouth open and to slurp up whaterver is put in. I am sorry, while I certainly respect the honest good work of the people in this book, and am not saying that their findings are irrelevant, I think that this book, though entirely unintentionally puts those who believe in what others call conspiracy "theories" to be seen in a negative or at least a suspect light. And while I want it to be absolutely understood that am not at all saying this book is part of a conspiracy to discredit those who believe in what others disparagingly lable as c-theories, will say that a book like this is very useful for those who are behind certain egregious acts, who are working for, let's say, a New World Order, for example, to point to and hold up and to use against those who have had a look behind the curtain and who are aware of whois behind things. No, clearly not every thing considered to be part of a conspiracy actually is. Yes, for too many an inherent suspicion or some need for the intreguing can result in outlandish theoris and accusations, but please, there really are hidden agendas, there are evil actios so vile that people would ratherl believe anything but the truth. While you read this book, a least keep in mind that just because something is cast into the bin "conspiracy theory", calling it that does not mean that something is not going onl, that it is some fantasy of a weak mind.

Environmental risk management has two subsections: risk assessment and risk reduction. Environmental risk, to a large extent, arises from the adverse effects of chemicals and contaminated land; that is why measuring and testing these effects plays a key role in risk management.

“Environmental Toxicology” deals with direct measurement of adverse effects of pure chemicals or environmental samples. This book has therefore been created specifically for engineers and gives a general overview of environmental toxicology. It provides an overview of hundreds of standardized and nonstandardized, generic and site-specific, conventional and innovative, animal and alternative test methods, and demonstrates how to apply these results to the regulation and management of environmental risk. In addition to human, aquatic and terrestrial methods for measuring toxicity, new trends in environmental analytics and the integration and complementary use of chemical analyses and the testing of effects are described.

Bioavailability and accessibility as key parameters are detailed and the interactive and dynamic characterization of contaminants in soil is introduced. Emphasis is placed on the evaluation and interpretation of environmental fate and adverse effect data as well as the simulation of environmental processes and effects in microcosms and mesocosms.

About the Author

Katalin Gruiz is Associate Professor at Budapest University of Technlogy, Budapest, Hungary.
She graduated in chemical engineering at Budapest University of Technology and Economics in 1975, received her doctorate in bioengineering and her Ph.D. in environmental engineering. Her main fields of activities are: teaching, consulting, research and development of engineering tools for risk-based environmental management, development and use of innovative technologies such as special environmental toxicity assays, integrated monitoring methods, biological and ecological remediation technologies for soils and waters, both for regulatory and engineering purposes. Prof. Gruiz has published 35 papers, 25 book chapters, more than hundred conference papers, edited 6 books and a special journal edition. She has coordinated a number of Hungarian research projects and participated in European ones. Gruiz is a member of the REACH Risk Assessment Committee of the European Chemicals Agency. She is a full time associate professor at Budapest University of Technology and Economics and heads the research group of Environmental Microbiology and Biotechnology.

Tamás Meggyes is Research Coordinator in Berlin, Germany.
He is specialising in research and book projects in environmental engineering. His work focuses on fluid mechanics, hydraulic transport of solids, jet devices, landfill engineering, groundwater remediation, tailings facilities and risk-based environmental management. He contributed to and organised several international conferences and national and European integrated research projects in Hungary, Germany, United Kingdom and USA. Tamás Meggyes was Europe editor of the Land Contamination and Reclamation journal in the UK and a reviewer of several environmental journals. He was invited by the EU as an expert evaluator to assess research applications and by Samarco Mining Company, Brazil, as a tailings management expert. In 2007, he was named Visiting Professor of Built Environment Sustainability at the University of Wolverhampton, UK. He has published 130 papers including eleven books and holds a doctor’s title in fluid mechanics and a Ph.D. degree in landfill engineering from Miskolc University, Hungary.

Éva Fenyvesi is senior scientist and founding member of CycloLab Cyclodextrin Research and Development Ltd, Budapest, Hungary.
She graduated as a chemist and received her PhD in chemical technology at Eotvos University of Natural Sciences, Budapest. She is experienced in the preparation and application of cyclodextrin polymers, in environmental application of cyclodextrins and in gas chromatography. She participated in several national and international research projects, in the development of various environmental technologies applying cyclodextrins. She is author or co-author of over 50 scientific papers, 3 chapters in monographs, over 50 conference presentations and 14 patents. She is an editor of the Cyclodextrin News, the monthly periodical on cyclodextrins.

Olivia O'Sullivan is currently Assistant Director of the Centre for Literacy in Primary Education. She has many years experience working in literacy and of designing and delivering courses. Her work includes the following:

Worked on a funded project at CLPE which looked at ways of raising the achievement of boys, particularly in the area of writing. This has culminated in a book, Boys on the Margin (CLPE, 2004)

Tutored for 10 years CLPE Raising Literacy Standards course which was highly evaluated by Ofsted/HMI.

Worked in New York City for five years (1991-96) on a bi-annual project in New York public schools. The work involved designing and delivering a rolling programme of in-service training for cohorts of teachers, school principals and staff development teams.

Acted as a consultant to Dorling Kindersley Education on two dictionaries for children.

Hybrid capital securities or 'hybrids' offer various benefits. They offer flexibility equity without shareholder dilution, provide protection to senior creditors, are a stable source of long-term funding for healthy companies, and help insurers and banks meet regulatory and rating agency capital requirements. Risks and features of hybrid securities are expressed in the credit spread of some relatively new financial instruments, but no structural fundamentals exist for to price hybrids precisely.

This book proposes a model for the pricing of hybrids. It begins by explaining the concept of hybrids as well as their equity- and debt-like characteristics. Different types of hybrids are presented, including preference shares, convertible bonds, contingent convertibles (CoCos) and bail-in bonds. About the Author

Dr Marcin Liberadzki is a Senior Lecturer at the Warsaw School of Economics, Department of Finance. He holds master's degrees in Finance and Banking (from the WSE), and in Law (the University of Warsaw, Faculty of Law), as well as PhD in Economic Science from the Warsaw School of Economics. He conducts research on convertible bonds, credit derivatives, sub-prime crisis, project finance and public-private partnership in the financing of infrastructure. After passing the Law Society examinations Marcin has been made a legal adviser and advocate. He runs his own law firm in Warsaw, Poland. He is author and co-author of over 30 scientific articles and 3 books.

Dr Kamil Liberadzki was awarded a PhD in Finance from the Department of Banking, the Warsaw School of Economics. He graduated within the Finance and Banking Faculty at the WSE and from the Law Faculty at Warsaw University. He is Senior Lecturer in the Institute of Finance at Warsaw School of Economics and lectures on investment banking, investment portfolio modeling, bonds and hybrid securities and financial mathematics.
His expertise surrounds fixed income securities, including issue structuring, risk management and pricing. He is also a partner at a legal firm delivering expertise to among the largest Polish banks and financial institutions.
